Brandon Liu

AI Fellow, Executive Branch Track

Brandon Liu is doing an executive branch fellowship with the Federal Trade Commission in the Office of Commissioner Bedoya. He previously completed a fellowship Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

 

Brandon is a public interest technologist. Most recently, he was Head of Engineering at Blue Rose Research, applying machine learning to political polling and message testing for progressive candidates. Previously, he was a Research Fellow at Microsoft Research India and VP of Engineering and Research for Everwell Health Solutions in Bangalore, India, developing new technologies to improve tuberculosis care. He also spent a year living and working with activists in rural north India on rural development and public interest litigation. He received master’s degrees in development studies from SOAS and political sociology from the LSE as a Marshall Scholar, and his undergraduate degree in computer science from Harvard. In 2025, he will begin a JD/PhD program to study the regulation of algorithmic decision making and emerging AI systems.
