Since our launch two years ago, Horizon has helped hundreds of experts explore and launch critically needed careers in public service focused on emerging tech areas such as AI and bio. Through our fellowship program, we’ve helped 75+ subject-matter experts fill vital roles at top think tanks, congressional offices, and federal agencies. The demand for emerging technology policy expertise is growing, and bringing people together—both in person and online—plays a crucial role in building community and connections that facilitate policy career transitions. We’re hiring a Senior Program Associate (Events) to help meet this demand and significantly expand our events portfolio, as well as optimize our office space for Horizon’s growing team. Applications are due by Sunday, August 3, 2025.
The Senior Program Associate (Events) will be a key member of a tight-knit, high-performing team at a fast-paced, growing organization. It’s an excellent platform for advancing to project and program management, chief of staff, or senior events and operations positions at other high-impact nonprofits, government offices, or industry.
Horizon’s events portfolio includes:
- Multi-day workshops (like our AI Innovation and Security Policy Workshop)
- A webinar series that has historically reached 800+ people interested in policy careers
- Monthly dinners and happy hours for our Horizon Fellows and alumni
- Twice-annual retreats for Horizon Fellows and alumni
- A yearly in-person training weekend for incoming Horizon Fellows
- Twice-annual retreats for Horizon staff
- Receptions for Horizon’s DC emerging tech policy network
- (New pilot program) Invite-only event series for mid-career AI policy leaders

Horizon additionally offers unlimited vacation, 12 weeks of paid parental leave, up to $3,000 per year in professional development funding, and flexible working hours. We can provide visa sponsorship for qualified candidates. Further details are available on the application page.
Application deadline: Sunday, August 3, 2025
We are open to a wide range of candidates, including exceptional recent graduates. Research shows excellent candidates often disqualify themselves from roles they could be a great fit for. If you think a role is a great fit for your skills and interests, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t have extensive prior experience with events. Our hiring process is designed to test for aptitudes and skills, not specific resume markers.
